I do remember this though. One of the main things I wanted to write about last time... I forgot to even mention! haha. I went to a friends wedding 2 weekends ago, and it was awesome. They had beautiful weather for an out door wedding. Bright sunny skies, a little bit of wind, not a cloud in sight. We went to Denman for the ceremony in her Mom's back yard, and then back to Black Creek to his parent's place in the evening for a dessert reception. Because the reception was so close to my house I went in the TRUE Black Creek style. Haha. I hopped on my Dad's old red quad, put on my aviators, and took off down the road. I had to sit carefully to keep my dress from flying away in the wind. I rode through my neighbors farm and got nice and dusty.... took a little break in the raspberry patch for a snack... and then continued on my way. When I came by their barns there was was a sprinkler going over the road, so the dust was washed away. Because I was on the quad on dried out quickly. The reception was fantastic and there were more tasty desserts than I had ever seen in my entire life. When I went to leave the wedding I got back on the quad (now wearing my Dad's jacket because I forgot mine) the moon was so SO bright that I didn't even need to turn on the lights. So I rode through the raspberry fields in the silvery moon-light. It was so beautiful. There really are no words to describe how lovely it was.
The next week at camp was awesome. We had a really small group. Just 17 campers. But It was amazing and God showed up in a BIG way and blessed us big-time. There are moments when I do NOT doubt why I am at camp this summer. I have learned so much. God has really been opening my eyes and teaching me things this year. Its awesome.
Then last weekend was the 75th anniversary at my church. Wow. I have never felt so rich in my whole life. It was a weekend filled with memories, tears, prayers, blessing, worship, fellowship, and lots of good food. We're Mennonite... so obviously a lot of time was spent eating and talking. We had all the events of the weekend outside under big white tents. And once again we were blessed with lovely sunny weather. Ahhh! It was just so GOOOOOOD!
This week at camp was quite interesting as well. We had about 30 kids, ages 7-8, for three nights and 4 days. Not a single one went home... and no one was even homesick. I was shocked, seeing as the week before (with 11-13 year olds) two campers went home because of homesickness.... as well as a CLT. The smoke from the forest fires set in over camp on Wednesday morning... and I couldn't believe how beautiful it made everything look. haha. I know it isn't good that somewhere we are losing our forest to mighty tongues of fire, but it made the sun the most brilliant orange colour and it made everything look golden. I think it looked the most amazing when it shone through the trees and lit up parts of the trail and it made them look like they were all golden. And it got me thinking.... we talk about there being streets of gold in heaven, and I never really thought that sounded all that great. It just seemed too flashy..... but everything just being rich in colour like the golden lighting we experienced at camp this week.... that to me is more beautiful than streets made of actual gold. But who knows what it will really look like. Far better than I could ever imagine, thats for sure!!!!
Things at camp are good. Just one week left and then I have a week or so off to just chill and relax with friends. But for now I am scrambling to find time to get my laundry done and find some time to get a little rest.
You sound like you have had a great summer. I understand when you talk about the fires, we are only 30 km away, and I stood out on our deck on Saturday night, and watched as the sun set at the end of the lake. It was amazing to watch as the biggest, orangest, brightest ball slipped into the lake, and if it wasn't for the devasation that is taking place just a few short miles away, I wouldn't have been standing there in complete awe of the beauty that was right before me. It made me forget how for the last several weeks we have not been able to see the other side of the lake for the smoke, and how frustrated I am with all the ash that is falling like snow.
ReplyDeleteI suppose if you look for the good & beauty in any situation you will find it if you look with your heart. Jo
