weddings and trucks

This seems to be the season of life when all my friends are getting married and (or) buying trucks. I don't fit in so well. I have neither. But thankfully I have generous friends who let me partake in the merriment that these things bring to life!

Last week on Monday evening Jodie and I went over to Stephanie's place to begin the wedding decoration extravaganza. Lots of laughter, organization and a chocolate fondue fountain. Good times. But... it was then that we realized how much work was going to be involved in the role we had taken on. Jodie and I left with boxes filled with gold dishes, lots of purple ribbon, white tool, candles, purple flowers and champagne flutes.

Wednesday came up all too quickly and was packed with wedding things. Thank the Lord for generous friends... Jared was over and was heading out to go quading with my dad and brother... and he lent me his truck!!! (my car was out of commission... again) ahhh! Funnest thing ever! Man I love trucks. haha. I practically needed a ladder just to get into the thing, yes... it is a LOT bigger than my little v-dub. Someday... I hope to own a truck... when I am rich and can pay for the mass amounts of fuel that they consume. We spent pretty much all day at the church. I went home for supper... and then it was back to the church for more set up.

Jodie and I put in another 5 hours of set up on Thursday morning. By this point I was pretty sure I should make a career switch to being a wedding planner because I was definitely getting more hours in.

Friday was a day to "relax".

Saturday morning came. Shoot. I was SO excited for the wedding... but there was a lot of work to be done. I stopped by the farmer's market and timmies on my way to the Filberg Gardens where I was meeting Jodie to set up everything for the reception. There was an arbor to assemble, rocks to arrange, flowers to put out, 'happy marraige bubbles' to place on every seat, and tables to decorate. Jod and I got it finished just in time and then ran to go get changed into our dresses before the ceremony began.

The ceremony was beautiful. I don't know if I have ever seen such a radiant glowing bride. Absolutely stunning.

Clean up time and then back to Black Creek for the reception. Again... so amazing. There was so much joy and love in that place that it didn't even matter that the power was out. Candles were lit and we carried on as planned. Afterwards there was more clean up (two-ish more hours) and then off to the beach for a much needed rest. It was such a beautiful wedding. I am honoured to be a part of their lives.

Thankfully Sunday was a no-work day for me. 7 friends, 2 jeeps and a 4 runner. Good, good times! There is something so exhilarating about being in a truck as it climbs a rock 'bluff' and all you can see out the windshield is the beautiful blue sky. OR.... being in a jeep as it takes a plunge off a 3 foot 'cliff', oops. So much laughter and squeaky 'holy crap' noises.

And now the rest of my week is filled with breakfast, lunch, coffee and tea dates with so many incredible people.

Oh... and I might also be signing up for a year of bagpipe lessons.
