People bring so much joy to my life.
I have spent the last week surrounding, visiting, enjoy, laughing with and saying good-bye to some of the most incredible people in the whole world.
My sister, brother-in-law and friend Angela left this week for a 3 week trip to the Philippines to visit 2 of my friends who are there going to school to become midwives. Ang and I scooped some chinese food on our way out of Courtenay, made it to the ferry with some time to spare... parked my car and walked on. As soon as we got on we scarfed down our chow mien, fried rice, chop suey and szechwan beef. mmmmmmm. I love china-food!
On the ride to Gramma's from the ferry Blake educated Ang and I on the meaning and significance of men's facial hair and other things we should apparently know about guys. haha. Oh my. Hanging out with my family is so entertaining. Angela, Raelene. Blake and I enjoyed platz made by my most wonderful Gramma. It was delicious. Then Gramma went to bed and us "younguns" went downstairs and laughed the night away. Good gravy... if ever you are feeling sad, hang out with these people and your sadness will be forgotten. I don't know if I have ever laughed so hard. I know that the things I found so hilarious will make no sense to anyway who wasn't there... or it just won't be funny... so I won't bore you with the long list of things I found so funny.
Wednesday was filled with more laughs, smiles, good food and great people. Mom and Dad came over from the Island to have supper with us, and David too. While we were waiting for Rae and Blake to pick up M & D from the ferry Ang and I laughed our way through an asian grocery store. I bought Blake a yummy (?) drink. In preparation for eating baby chicks from the egg in the Phils I chose a drink called 'white fungus and birds nest drink' and the ingredients were white fungus, water, sugar and birds nest. So weird. haha. It wasn't even that bad.... it was super super sweet.
We brought our loved ones to the airport and said farewell. Being in the airport made me really want to go somewhere (but I'll leave that topic for another time)
Wednesday night I spent at David's place. I witnessed free lines in motion and tried out a slackline. (turns out I suck) haha... such good times with those guys. I watched Matt give David a hair cut and then helped them start writing up a resume for David. These guys are so entertaining. I wish I could have spent more time with them.... but I had more people to see!!!!
Thursday morning I woke up and time tick tocked by so slowly as I waited for 10 to roll around. I just needed 10 to come so that I could go to Chantelle's. Ahhhhh! I was so so so so so so SO excited! It had been almost 2 years since I last saw her. We hung out all day wandering around downtown.... shopping, finding some sweet graffiti, and Christmas Starbucks.
Thursday night I slept on a tiny little love-seat couch... okay... I 'slept' on it. haha. And then Chan and I headed out for another day of sweetness. We stopped in at the Benslers and had coffee and treats with Marylene and looked at the plans for their new house. Then we wandered along West Broadway and bought matching friend bracelets.
Then I drove her to the skytrain and zoomed out to catch the ferry. Okay... so thats a lie... I didn't ZOOM anywhere. I was definitely putting. I putted down Georgia, crawled through Stanley Park and slothed over Lionsgate bridge. Somehow I made it on the ferry. I was actually the LAST car on the ferry. The doors were actually like touching the back of my car. haha.
And now I am sitting here sipping tea and eating some dark chocolate in memory of my evenings with Marylene. People. I love them. This was an awesome week.
