And on the weekend on the drive home from Vic I felt as though I was driving through a Christmas movie scene. All the trees were covered with thick white snow and they sparkled as my headlights bounced off one angle to the next.
Although I didn't get much (or any really) work this week I kept busy with tea dates, a free massage, and a little Christmas shopping. The week practically flew by as I looked forward to the many things the end of the week would bring.
Last night my sister and brother-in-law came home from the Philippines and we sat around the fireplace all evening drinking eggnog lattes and listening to a few of their adventures.
And today brought a whirlwind of activities. I rushed out this morning to buy a Christmas present before they sold out... and then hurried home to tutor. All the while the snow was heavily falling. It snowed all day long! Then I made a TON of stuffing (76 cups of bread cubes) for an American Thanksgiving supper at my house this evening.
The snow continued to fall as Raelene and I started pulling out and unpacking Christmas boxes while listening to our favorite Christmas CDs.
6 o'clock rolled around and the party began as my friends made their way through the snow and over the slippery roads to my house. It was around 7 when we finally sat down to enjoy our incredible feast. My parents generously cooked up 2 turkeys for us all and we pot-lucked the rest of it. We had it all. Great food, amazing friends, and more laughter than I knew what to do with.
Being gone for weekends I didn't realize how much I missed my friends... and that the weekends are kinda the only time I ever get to see them. It was so good to be surrounded be so many incredible people. I was so excited when Rudi showed up and added more amazing banter (poor Ru... my dad just really loves to pick on my friends hahaha), funny stories and jokes to our evening. This Thanksgiving day petered to a close with just 7 of us sitting around listening to funny stories about the Phils, my dad reading the definitions of weird words from the encyclopedia and again.... lots more laughter.
And now as I sit here in bed with my laptop keeping me warm, I can hear that the snow as turned to rain. Darn. I'll be waking up to a soggy, dreary world tomorrow morning.... but thankfully I think this day has brought me enough smiles and joy to easily last me till the next snowfall.
