Do not store up for yourselves treasures
on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and thieves break in and steal. But
store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy
and thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your
heart will be also.
The eye is the lamp of the body. If your
eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad,
your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is
darkness, how great is that darkness!
No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

(Matthew 6:19-24)
Where, and what is your treasure? Who
holds the key to it’s hiding place? Is it you? Or is it God?
All too often I am the guard of my own treasure – that is my treasure is being built here instead of heaven. I keep tabs on where my things are, who I let borrow them, the money in my bank account… but I pay little attention to my heart, to how my faith is (struggling or flourishing), to the hearts of those around me, to the opportunities God has given me to share truth with my friends (and strangers).

Where is my treasure? It’s here. What is
my treasure worth? Nothing really. Yes I am thankful and blessed to have what I
do, and I think it is important to be aware of that… but it isn’t where I place
my identity, my focus, my value.
I need to open my eyes and let the true light in. I’m sure you’ve seen different coloured lights… white, blue, green, red. White might seem “boring” and traditional… but it gives off the best and brightest light. Red on the otherhand… have you ever tried to use a red light as a flashlight? Pretty much totally useless! Ya, it looks “bright” and pretty… but it does close to nothing to actually give light… to show the way.
What kind of light are you letting shine into your heart and mind? What colour light are your eyes seeking? And how does that effect the rest of your life?
