Since I last wrote I have gone for MANY walks, a few runs, cleaned the bathroom (an hour and a half job - at least- cleaning up the mess my little brother left behind), cleaned my room, cleaned the kitchen, cleaned the laundry room, cleaned up after the puppies, threw my very first "dinner party", made some new friends, met some creepy giant frogs, had a run-in with some honey bees, met.... something scary... coming out of the chicken coop, house sat some more, considered buying a new car, reconnected with an old friend and got a sunburn.
I house sat for my parents while they were off visiting my sister and brother-in-law. And while they were gone I slipped into this crazy cleaning mode and went nuts! It was exhausting... but it felt so good, and I think mom really appreciated it. I totally understand what "spring cleaning" is now. I threw away so much useless crap. I also found some old rolls of film and got them developed. haha.... such awful pictures. One of them was me when I got my wisdom teeth out. Oh dear.
I have had a few interesting animal incidents recently too. On my walks I go past a bunch of hives that my neighbor has... and I have never had any trouble with the bees before. But last week they were busy-busy-bees. I was just walking past, minding my own business and one decided to go into my shirt... well between my hoodie and shirt. But I was wearing a jacket and a hoodie. So I had a little freak-out... ripped off my 2 outer layers and set the little guy free. But then another bee decided to get stuck in my hair. Ahhh! Another freak-out. Once I had finally gotten rid of that little guy I scooped up my jacket and hoodie off the ground a quickly left the scary bees behind me. Needless to say.... I don't like bees too much. Love the honey, not the bees. Then the other day Kay and I were walking and we hear this really weird sound. I actually thought it sounded like a moose (I have no idea what a moose sounds like.... but its at least what I imagine a moose would sound like). Then it was joined by more moose-sounding noises. We couldn't figure out what it was... but then saw these GIGANTIC ugly brownish-yellow frogs and realized that they were the ones making this crazy humming-croaking-moaning noise. gross. And one night I was kinda late in going to close in the chickens and when I got down to the coop I could have sworn one of the chickens was being killed.... I debated whether to close whatever was killing it in the coop or just leaving the door open all night so that it would hopefully leave. I was just about to close the door when it, whatever it was (I couldn't see it really because it was so dark out), came scooting out of the coop. I let out a healthy scream, slammed the door shut and then ran back up to the house as fast as is humanly possible when wearing gumboots 4 sizes too big.
Last monday I threw my very first dinner party. I think it went well. I was so nervous about not making enough food, or the food not turning out. But I successfully fed 7 of my friends.... 5 guys, 2 girls... and there were even leftovers. And I am pretty sure that everyone enjoyed it. Another thing on my list of 'things to do again'. It was a lot of fun.
Those are just a few 'highlights' of the past couple weeks. Nothing too exciting. Right now I am trying to prepare myself for the craziness of the upcoming summer. I'll be lifeguarding all week at camp, and then working at the Kingfisher on the weekends. phew! and somewhere in there I hope to find some time to play some volleyball with friends, go to a wedding and maybe even get some sleep. Sleep. That sounds like a good idea. Goodnight.
