First and foremost I was going to see my cousin Nissa. What a lady. I love her to pieces. Sadly... she is moving far FAR away... practically to the other side of the world. Well... to the other side of the country. Newfoundland. Really... you can't get much farther away than that! I feel so privileged to have been able to become such good friends with my cousin. This past year has been great. One of the things she said when we said our good-byes was... "We will ALWAYS be cousins." Which when you think about it pretty freaking fantastic! People say 'we will always be friends' but there really isn't a lot of security in that. Family though... you are never free of that! Its a blood-bond that lasts a lifetime. I have no doubts that we will always be friends... and we will definitely always be cousins. I really love my family. We have such good times together. My Aunt Jenny and Uncle Lloyd are totally AMAZING too. So loving, so funny, so giving. Ah! I just love them all! And.... some day we will be adding another great member to our fantastic family. We already love Andrew to pieces.
Nissa, Aunty Jenny and I had a sweet conversation about love. Oh girl times. Nissa said something that really got me thinking. There are people who you see who are totally in love... but don't really seem to like each other that much. And that can be so true. It is so important for love to be more that just an attraction... I really want to be great friends with the man I will one day marry. She said that saying "I really like you" is just as important to her and Andrew as saying "i love you". Totally true.
Speaking of couples who really like each other... as well as loving each other... I also got to see Savvy and Cody while in Vic. And they are living it up in Chinatown. It was so awesome to see them all settled into their new place. Totally at home there. We went out for brunch at the "Michael's" of Victoria.... John's Place. Super good. And it was even better because I got to spend time with two awesome people. Another great thing... I got to share a sweet moment with them. Savvy received these incredible quilts from her Dad.... that her Grandma had made. They were gorgeous. It was a beautiful moment...
The trip home was a little stressful. I had some din-din with Nissa, Andrew and some of their friends... and then I scooted off. I had JUST left Vic when I hit some mad traffic. I sat more or less in the same place for just just over 2 hours. But it gave me time to think... and pray... and just sit. So even though I left Vic at around 7.20 I didn't get home until midnight. It was a LONG day. And it was really rainy, windy and dark the whole way back.... but I stayed awake and made it safely back in one piece. But back to an empty house.
And today I have my first day of work at the Kingfisher. Its going to be good. I hope! haha.
