Casey and I went for a lovely long walk today... with our tea mugs in hand and the snow falling around us... we were bundled up in many layers, scarves and toques, and extra socks. It was freezing... but yes... Casey can now cross another thing off her Canadian Bucket-list.
Although I was really hoping that spring was coming, I also must say I am enjoying the snow right now, and also being home. Even though I am not sleeping well in my little bed (I miss the comfiest-bed-in-the-world that I got to sleep on at my house-sitting home), being home is good. And what makes it even better is the fact that Savvy is home. I wish that the reason for her being home wasn't because she is sick... but all the same, I love having her here. The past couple nights I have bundled up in my boots and wool peacoat and walked up the road to Savvy's house. I feel ALIVE when I'm out in the cold like that. I can see my breath, I can feel the blood pumping through my body, I can hear ever step as I crunch through the frozen snow, I can feel each little snowflake as it melts on my cheeks. Its an incredible feeling.
Today my parents took me out for an early birthday lunch at Sushi Kobo... mmmmm! I love sushi. It was sweet to spend some time with them before they both leave for the week. My mom flew out this afternoon for Palm Springs to visit my Gramma for the week, and my dad leaves on Friday for Grand Forks to help out with a plumbing project at Pines. My parents also gave me my birthday present the other day. A lovely aqua marine stone set in a delicate gold band. It was a ring that my Gramma got in 1952 from her parents, and then she gave it to my mom, and now it is mine! It is beautiful, and I refuse to take it off. I need to get it made a little smaller, but I can't bare the thought of giving it up!
Choir practice for the Easter musical started on Tuesday, and we desperately need more members if we want to pull this off... so please come! There are lots of parts... I am even considering taking one.... even though after my one (and only) part in a Christmas musical about 6 years ago I swore I would never do it again... haha. But we'll see... I'll most likely chicken out.
Oh yes! One more thing... and then I'll let you go. (well.... really you've been free to leave all along... I just dream sometimes that my writing, and life, are so interesting that you literally can't pull yourself away until you've read my entire post... but I know thats not true) I did a little bit of creating this morning. I had someone ask me if I make coasters, so I decided to give it a go. I made them REALLY quickly, and they aren't too pretty... just the yarn and fabric I had lying around.... but take a look at Forever True if you're interested.
Alright. Now you're free to go.
just so you know, I always read to the end:) keep it up and enjoy your day "today" as well-Carolyn
ReplyDeleteI read to the end too!! Oh ... and your coasters are cute too. Val
